In 2005, Aigaia School of Art & Design launched a Theater school for children, teenagers, and an experimental group for adults. The idea of establishing Theatre groups matured through years of productive and selfless collaboration with professionals in the field and aims to develop expression and unfold the human soul, which is the greatest freedom that engagement with theater can offer.

The goal of Aigaia’s theater groups is to contribute to the development of the theatrical art in Cyprus and to create a quality theatrical culture in Cypriot society. At the same time, it aims to educate individuals by providing the most ideal conditions for them to unfold their theatrical education and stage expression, to design, to be inspired, to create, and to teach as actors, theater scholars, directors, set designers, artists, choreographers, performers…

The love of the group’s members, the recognition of the work offered, the significant development of the theater groups, and society’s thirst for theatrical education showed us the way to realize our vision.

In the theater workshop for children, teenagers, and adults, specialized acting lessons are offered, along with preparation for exams and for admission to drama schools and universities. The program provides participants with the opportunity to develop clarity in speech, positive body language, group consciousness, self-confidence, and physical presence by individually and collectively exploring different uses of speech.

The ‘Aigaia’ Theater space is housed in a purely artistic environment dedicated to the production of contemporary forms of art, in a building that connects and combines the ancient, the traditional, and the contemporary. The configuration of this alternative space allows for direct actor-audience interaction, a fact that is utilized and aesthetically integrated into the theatrical works to develop new ways of interpretation, especially concerning the presentation and viewing methods. We hope that the coexistence of theater and visual arts in the same space will lead to a new way of expression, presentation, and approach.
Our theatre space – harmoniously integrated into Aigaia School of Art and Design – is characterized by its versatility and flexibility in configuring the seating and stage arrangements. It is equipped with the necessary theatrical equipment (light – sound – image) and, in its standard configuration, accommodates approximately 70 spectators. These features provide unique possibilities for rearrangement and reconfiguration according to the needs of each event, making the space ideal for quality theatrical performances, theater production rehearsals, art exhibitions, poetry workshops, presentations, corporate events, lectures, seminars, etc.
