CERAMICS

The Ceramics Programs at Aigaia School of Art & Design, are aimed for people of all ages and levels. For those who are interested in rediscovering the beauty of handmade objects! To work clay with your own hands creating functional and/or decorative objects which will be then taken home. Handmade Ceramic objects are works of art from the simplest material imaginable. Creating from scratch, from an amorphous mass of clay, which gradually transforms in your own hands into something unique. Much can be said about ceramic art, its styles, its various forms and different applications, but one cannot find the “magic” more effectively than in the very feeling: The joy of “creating” and shaping it with your own hands from scratch.

If you have missed this feeling, maybe it’s time to get yourselves involved in creating with clay.

For those that will be involved with ceramics for the first time, you will be guided at the beginning to learn the basic making techniques, in order to be able to then develop your own pace, skills and aesthetic, and work more independently. The programs include firing and glazing of the objects that will be created.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography is an ideal subject for examinations, either for those students who wish to study in any Fine Αrt,  Design, Media specialisation or as an additional creative academic qualification for studies to any other discipline anywhere in the world.

Students are not required or expected to have any prior knowledge of photography. The program begins with an introduction to the camera and the darkroom, as well as an introduction to digital editing.

The lessons are mostly practical and the students create a portfolio consisting of the work done during all the exercises and tasks they were taught and all the topics they worked on.

Examinations  (GCSE or A’ Level) are optional but recommended.
