Our photography courses are aimed at people who have a passion for the art of photography and want to learn the important fundamentals of photography, how to properly operate their camera and through this practice-based course they will be able to create and develop their own images.

It includes:

  •   All the fundamentals of photography,
  •   proper operation of the DSLR camera,
  •   creation of realistic, abstract and staged images,
  •   digital, colour, black and white photography,
  •   darkroom developing and printing,
  •   history of photography.

Can also join the group, passionate creatives that:

  • already know the fundamentals of photography and want to work creatively, thematically and develop their personal visual language and creativity.

The participants will be encouraged to apply what they learn through a practice-based approach. They will learn the basic functions of their DSLR cameras, manual exposure and the use and functions of the ISO, shutter speeds and apertures, basic use of flash, white balance, focusing and metering modes as well as other exposure modes. During this course, they will understand colour, direction and quality of light and the impact of composition in an image.

They will begin to see the world with a different eye, whereby through practice, they will – as Henri Cartier-Bresson said  – recognise an order that is in front of them and use the wonderful world of geometry, design, colour, light and shadow to create stunning images. Finally, they will be able to analyse and discuss famous photographs and how they were shot thus expanding their critical thinking and become inspired.

purpose of photography courses

The purpose of the courses is, beyond the technical training (which includes comfortable *manual operation of the camera), the participants become in love with the art of photography and be able to express themselves personally through it. The work of the participants will be exhibited at the annual exhibition of the Aigaia school.

*The manual operation of the camera

With this mode of the camera, i.e. in manual mode, photographers have absolute control over their camera as far as all the factors that determine exposure.

That is, they choose the values for the shutter speed, the aperture of the lens (f), and the sensitivity of the digital sensor in ISO.
