ORDINARY LEVEL EXAMINATIONS GCSE / IGCSE

In the following subjects:

  • General Art and Design
  • Fine Art
  • Three-Dimensional Design
  • Fashion & Textile Design
  • Photography
  • Graphic Communication (graphic arts, illustration, animation)

The examination programs in Art & Design enable students to learn the basic principles through Fine Arts and Design, through traditional and contemporary techniques and approaches, and to develop visual research and  visual analysis skills. Students learn to analyse and research ideas and topics in order to complete thematic assignments- projects, develop personal ideas and reach to final results. Emphasis is placed on cultivating their creative skills and learning all the appropriate materials, techniques and processes.

The work submitted for the examinations is graded on the basis of detailed evaluation criteria, which are determined by the syllabus. The first stage consists of a “portfolio” of chosen coursework done during our lessons at Aigaia and the second stage involves a project, for which an analysis of the topic is given by the examination center.

The final work should be produced in “examination conditions”, in the premises of Aigaia school of Art & Design.

These academic qualifications are powerful programs as they ensure an appropriate further advancement of the students to the advanced Level or to the next level which involves the creation of a specialised portfolio, a necessary criterion for gaining places in all Art & Design Schools, Academies and Universities anywhere in the world for any of the creative studies specialisations, for example fine arts/ all design disciplines/ architecture/ media / digital arts etc.
