Summer program for teenagers

The Summer program at Aigaia is purposely designed according to the context, the teaching and learning methodologies applied in the tertiary education programs offered by our institution. Its underlying philosophy revolves around engaging teenagers in a creatively stimulating, educational, and interactive program throughout the month of July.

All activities take place within our premises, providing a safe and conducive environment for exploration. Participants have exclusive access to fully equipped studios and workshops, where they receive guidance from professionals in the fields of art, design, and theatre, all of whom bring extensive experience in education.

Activities:
Each week, participants can engage in a range of art, design and theatre workshops , on rotation or devoting their time to one or more specific projects. This semi-customised approach ensures flexibility, catering to individual preferences and goals. Whether exploring various techniques and media or focusing on a specific project or specialisation, the program empowers each participant to shape their artistic journey according to their unique personal interests and aspirations. This dynamic blend of structured workshops and personalised projects fosters a supportive environment for growth, creativity, and self-discovery, enriching the overall experience for all involved.

  • The summer program usually starts in the last week of June and will last for at least 5 weeks.
  • Lessons take place daily from Monday to Friday.
  • Teenagers can be in the school from 7:15 until 15:30.
  • Teaching hours are between 8:00 to 14:00.
  • Teenagers can join for as many weeks as they like.

Benefits of the program:
Participants, particularly those inclined towards art and design can greatly benefit from the extended morning sessions, during the month of July.
• These additional sessions offer more time for practice, experimentation, and refinement of techniques, leading to skill enhancement and mastery.
• Moreover, extended class time allows for deeper exploration of artistic concepts and themes relevant to exams or projects, fostering creativity and critical thinking. With increased opportunities for guidance and feedback from instructors, participants can gain confidence in their abilities and develop a stronger portfolio.
• Ultimately, the extra hours devoted to art lessons empower students to excel in their artistic pursuits and achieve their goals.

Art as a hobby holds immense importance for teenagers as it offers a myriad of benefits that contribute to their holistic development.

• Engaging in artistic activities provides an outlet for self-expression, allowing teenagers to explore and communicate their thoughts, emotions, and experiences in a creative manner. This fosters a sense of identity and self-awareness, crucial aspects of adolescent development.
• Art encourages problem-solving and critical thinking skills as teenagers experiment with various techniques and materials to bring their ideas to life. It promotes resilience and adaptability as they navigate through the creative process, learning to embrace mistakes and setbacks as part of the learning journey
• Art fosters imagination and innovation, nurturing a capacity for abstract thinking and unconventional problem-solving approaches. It also cultivates empathy and cultural awareness as teenagers engage with different art forms and perspectives from diverse backgrounds.
• Art as a hobby offers a therapeutic outlet, helping teenagers manage stress, anxiety, and other mental health challenges by promoting mindfulness and relaxation through the act of creation.

Overall, art serves as a powerful tool for personal growth, cognitive development, emotional well-being, and cultural enrichment, making it a valuable and enriching hobby for teenagers to pursue.
