Painting is a creative form of expression through which we engage with colour, line, shape and composition. Through different materials, such as pencils, charcoal, pastels, watercolours, acrylics, oils and mixed media, as well as through a variety of artistic approaches and techniques, imagination, observation and confidence are cultivated.

Emphasis is placed not only on the creation of an image, but also on the creation of meaning, encouraging personal expression and the development of ideas. At the same time, through getting to know the various materials, the learning of techniques and the study of other artists’ practices within a framework of respect and artistic ethics, essential skills are developed that support a deeper understanding of the painting process. Within this process, there is always the opportunity for experimentation, discovery and the development of new, personal and authentic ways of creating.
