Graphic Arts
Graphic arts form a broad field of visual communication, where image, text, colour, composition and typography come together to create works with aesthetic quality, functionality and a clear message. Through the study of visual language, participants develop creative thinking, observation, critical awareness and the ability to organise ideas into complete visual outcomes.
As a creative practice, graphic arts connect artistic expression with design and communication. Composition, balance, visual hierarchy, typography, colour choices and the relationship between image and meaning all contribute to the creation of printed or digital applications with character and purpose.
Participants explore a range of approaches and techniques, including poster design, illustration, logo design, print design, collage, mixed media, basic principles of branding and digital image editing. Through engagement with the work of influential designers, artists and contemporary creators, they develop an understanding of visual communication, aesthetic judgement and a personal creative identity.
