Printmaking

Printmaking is a creative form of expression through which we engage with line, texture, mark-making, composition and the idea of the image as a multiple. Through different materials and techniques, such as linoleum, wood, etching, monotype, collagraph, screen printing and mixed media, imagination, observation and technical skills are cultivated.

Emphasis is placed not only on the creation of an image, but also on the creation of meaning, through the relationship between the material, the print and the printing process. At the same time, through familiarisation with tools, the learning of techniques and the study of other artists’ practices within a framework of respect and artistic ethics, a deeper understanding of the printmaking process is developed. Within this process, there is always the opportunity for experimentation, discovery and the development of new, personal and authentic ways of creating.
