theatre lessons for children

Theater aims to equip students, regardless of age or aspirations, with skills useful throughout their lives.

Each year, our young actors have the opportunity to participate in a theatrical performance and take the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA) exams in acting or related subjects.

Participants in our theater program gain extensive knowledge about theater while developing their personalities. The expression and exploration of the human soul represent the greatest freedom that engagement with the arts, particularly theater, can offer. A theatrical performance is the culmination of the collaborative efforts of various art forms.

Our lessons are taught by professionals with extensive experience in theater and teaching.

Our primary objective is to help students express themselves and communicate as a group, with other individuals, and ultimately with the audience. We aim to fulfil the need for emotional expression and communication, mainly through theatrical play, to foster the imagination and observational skills of our actors.

Introducing students to the works of theatre writers and other literary figures from Cyprus and abroad guides them toward a performance where they learn to work as a team, enriching their vocabulary and knowledge. They also draw inspiration from other art forms, such as music, visual arts, and dance.

Furthermore, theater contributes to the development of skills in the following areas:

  • Critical and creative thinking, and problem-solving
  • Individual performance and teamwork for planning and achieving goals
  • Social and personal understanding and awareness
  • Experience performing in front of an audience
  • Responsibility and respect in both group and individual settings
  • Vocabulary and knowledge enrichment
  • Fulfillment of the need for expression
  • Understanding of other art forms related to theater, such as music, visual, and applied arts, and dance
  • Development of self-criticism, human relationships, and environmental sensitivity through various roles
  • Historical and cultural understanding and exploration of the specific time, place, and culture relevant to the works studied

At Theatro Aigaia, students are encouraged to take the LAMDA courses and exams to gain recognition and certification of their theatrical knowledge, skills, and proficiency.

The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts is one of the oldest drama academies in the United Kingdom, renowned as a center of excellence in professional performing arts training.

LAMDA exams:

  • Serve as a significant and valuable qualification for students seeking admission to UK universities in performing arts and acting fields
  • Certify progress and skill levels according to an internationally recognized standard, providing evidence of their dedication to theater
  • Offer the chance to interact with experienced examiners and professionals from abroad
  • Provide an ideal process for developing self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Offer critical evaluation and guidance for future growth
