Creative Education for Adults

‘Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life’  – Pablo Picasso

Aigaia offers creative education in the visual arts and theatre, to people of all ages and levels who intend to explore their artistic concerns and express themselves by creating artworks with various and different materials and techniques.

The countless possibilities offered by the arts education, enable not only the creation of art but also the emotional discharge and relaxation. Artistic activity is a conscious process that gives a specific form to emotions such as anxiety and stress and through personal externalisation offers the possibility to escape from the monotony of everyday life and feel content.

Creative education of artistic creation through continuous cultivation, interaction, experience and familiarity with both the traditional and contemporary art forms, helps to achieve the above goals. The visual arts and the theatre are often approached thematically and interdisciplinary, without boundaries and barriers, introducing productive dialogues between them.

Aigaia School of Art & Design, throughout its full range of activities and especially the Creative Education Programs for all ages and levels – including programs aimed at adults – is a pioneer and aims to contribute to the continuous evolution of a Contemporary Visual Arts Culture in Cyprus. Our students are the most important means of this journey, as the messengers of the contemporary art culture and education that characterises uniquely our Art School.

ACTING FOR ADULTS AND YOUNG PEOPLE

At Theatro Aigaia we play theater to give a way out to our energy and imagination. To develop our expressive means, to “unblock” our body and our voice, to free our- selves from all kinds of molds. Because it gives us the opportunity to enter other worlds, to transform, to experience different situations, to face problems, dilemmas and passions and to exorcise them. To make new friends and try to achieve positive goals together. Because we love “beautiful” and love “art”, and theater is inclusive of all the arts. To communicate messages, to move, to entertain, to have fun!

The workshops are aimed at teenagers of all ages and levels, with or without experi- ences.

The program includes 1-2 meetings per week, and includes: Acting, improvisation, theatrical play, movement, rhythm, speech education, theatrical singing.

Creating from scratch, from an amorphous mass of clay, which gradually transforms in your own hands into something unique. Much can be said about ceramic art, its styles, its various forms and different applications, but one cannot find the “magic” more effectively than in the very feeling: The joy of “creating” and shaping it with your own hands from scratch.

If you have missed this feeling, maybe it’s time to get yourselves involved in creating with clay.

For those that will be involved with ceramics for the first time, you will be guided at the beginning to learn the basic making techniques, in order to be able to then develop your own pace, skills and aesthetic, and work more independently.
